Feedlot Manager

$90,000-$110,000 per year

Description

Responsibilities:
Manage the receiving, monitoring, testing and reporting of feed and commodities
Monitor and manage cattle health and welfare
Manage occupational health and safety
Maintain budget and meet financial goals
Review margins and medical expenses
Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and industry standards
Ensure security of all assets including land, livestock produce and inventories
Leads by example and facilitates team energy and enthusiasm
Shows employees recognition; mentors and encourages others to identify and achieve goals
Directs the work of employees and participates in employee recruitment, selection, performance, and retention
Oversee feedlot staff and day to day operations
Oversee and assist with yard maintenance

Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years experience managing a feedlot/farm, handling cattle, managing people
Post-secondary education in animal science or agribusiness
Excellent communication skills, highly organized
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to develop and lead a diverse team
Able to hold people accountable, drive performance through regular communication and feedback.
Self-motivated with initiative and drive to complete projects
Able to give and receive constructive feedback
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
